Rehabilitation for Horses, Dogs, and Cats
Rehabilitation for animals utilizes various methods to treat an illness or injury, restore function, reduce pain, and develop and maintain strength. These methods include acupuncture, laser therapy, TENS therapy, massage, and therapeutic exercises. At Tails of Montana every appointment is tailored to your pet's specific needs.

Acupuncture
Involves the insertion of sterile, thin needles into certain points of the body to enhance blood flow, stimulate the nervous system, reduce pain and inflammation, and release growth factors for healing. Electroacupuncture is another stimulation technique that may be utilized.

Regenerative Medicine
Laser therapy - is a non-invasive way to reduce inflammation, pain, and accelerate healing for a variety of chronic and acute conditions. It uses infrared light of specific wavelengths to target damaged tissue and cells.

TENS
Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) can provide pain relief through the use of a low-voltage electrical current to stimulate nerves and block pain signals.

Assistive Devices
Your pet may benefit from assistive devices such as wheelchairs, anti-slip devices, booties, and harnesses. More information can be provided during your appointment.

Massage
Therapeutic massage can help promote relaxation, release muscle tension and relieve soreness.

Exercise
Keeping your pet strong and moving comfortably is Dr. Shelby's goal. To achieve this, she will create a customized exercise program for you to perform with your pet at home. Dr. Shelby will also perform range of motion movements and stretching of muscles as appropriate to

Medications & Supplements
Based on your pet's medical history and injury, Dr. Shelby can determine if your pet would benefit from additional pain relief and can provide recommendations on supplements.
